Poul Kjærholm's Writing Desk and Professor Desk were originally designed for the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts' School of Architecture in 1955. The Academy's furniture school needed new furniture as the students and teachers had run out of space for working and storing their drawings. A new teacher at the school, Poul Kjærholm was made chief designer on the project, and as Rud. Rasmussen had previously helped him with prototypes for some of his chairs, they joined forces to produce furniture for the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
The two desks are available today with black or grey lacquered steel frames and an oiled reversible tabletop in oak or Oregon pine veneer.
