The Arctander Chair, originally designed in 1946 and relaunched by Paustian in 2016. Spring 2017, Paustian presented two new versions of the chair upholstered in the 2017 Kvadrat/Raf Simons collection. The Arctander Chair is now available in shearling, Kvadrat/Raf Simons Vidar, Sonar and Argo as well as Kvadrat Hallingdal. It is also available in other fabrics on special request.
With its light expression, soft, padded form and rounded legs, the Arctander Chair has become a point of reference in the field of furniture design. It was produced in limited numbers in the late 1940s. Based on Philip Arctander’s principles of accessibility and durability, Paustian has put the chair back into production in close collaboration with Philip Arctander’s granddaughter Sofie Arctander Paustian, her husband, architect Morten Paustian, who has produced working drawings based on the chair’s original design, and his parents Monika and Ole Paustian, founders of the Danish furniture and design house, Paustian.
